WHY HYDROTHERAPY?
Sometimes it seems we are bombarded with new and alternative therapies each time we turn on the tv or open a magazine. Hydrotherapy however is not something new, it was used by the Ancient Greeks thousands of years ago and the word itself is derived form Greek and literally means 'water healing' and the definition of the word itself is 'to relieve discomfort and promote physical well-being'. Through the years water is known as having a calming soothing effect on both the mind and body but for some dogs with certain medical conditions it is so much more than that.

Controlled swimming or use of the aquatic treadmill can speed up recovery times post op, improve fitness and condition pre-op, allow dogs on lead walks only the freedom to expel all that pent up energy in a safe and controlled environment, help working and show dogs to improve stamina and muscle tone, the list goes on.....some dogs will come to swim just for fun and as long as the vet says they are fit to do so then why not?!

Hydrotherapy can be used in the treatment of the following:

ELBOW AND HIP DYSPLASIA
ARTHRITIS
RECOVERY FROM INJURY INCLUDING SOFT TISSUE AND FRACTURE
