Our pool measures 2.5m x 3m. It is heated to a constant temperature of 27 degrees and is sanitised to the high standards required by the Canine Hydrotherapy Association. The water is constantly filtered and bacteria is controlled by the use of a UV light and the careful dosage of chlorine.

The water is tested at least 3 times per day to ensure that the correct chemical balance is maintained. There is a split level ramp for easy access into the pool and an internal ramp for gentle entry in, this ramp may also be used as a resting area during the swim. For those dogs with more serious mobility problems there is an overhead hoist with a hangar bar and slings specially designed for the k9 hydrotherapy pool. Before hydrotherapy dogs are showered both to remove loose hair and dirt and to warm up muscles pre-swim. There is another shower afterwards to rinse off the pool water and allow the dog return to a resting heart rate. Dogs are towel dried and we also have a high power blaster to take off most of the excess water. It is very important that your dog is kept warm and dry post swim otherwise much of the good work may be undone.
Ensuring your dog's comfort and safety is at the core of everything we do. We try to go above and beyond what is 'required' to make sure that the hydrotherapy session is as stress free, pleasant and therefore as beneficial as is possible. Our shower area has an optional waterproof bed for the comfort of those dogs who may prefer or need to lie down before and/or after their swim, we provide inflatable neck collars for those dogs who like to keep their faces and ears out of the water, and at the end of the session there is always a home made healthy treat from our doggy biscuit tin!
