Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions. If you don't find the information you are looking for, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will try our best to help.
* How long does a session last?

* This may vary hugely depending on the requirements and fitness of the individual dog. The first few sessions may be very short, too much too soon is counter productive and each dog needs to be assessed on an individual basis. In general terms the maximum swim/treadmill session will be half an hour.

* If my dog is only coming for a fitness swim, why do I need a veterinary referral ?

* As members of the CHA we never swim ANY dog without a signed veterinary referral form. Even though your dog may appear fit and healthy there may be underlying health issues that make hydrotherapy unsuitable or even dangerous. It is also important that there is good communication between your vet and your hydrotherapist, we send regular feedback to the vets, informing them of any concerns, progress, deterioration etc. and this information forms an important part of your dog's records.

* Can I claim the cost of hydrotherapy on my pet insurance?

* Each insurance company has it's own policy regarding k9 hydrotherapy and you should contact your own provider to find our where it stands on this issue. Some pet insurance companies will only pay out if you are using a hydrotherapy centre that is registered with the CHA.

*Can I get into the pool with my dog?

* In short the answer is no. Our own insurance does not allow for this and there will be someone in the pool with your dog for the first few swims at the very least and in many cases for every swim. We do, however, encourage all dog owners to participate from the poolside. Shouting encouragement and throwing toys is definitely allowed!
